I am a final-year PhD candidate at the School of Physics. I completed my Bachelor of Science (Advanced) (Honours) at the University of Sydney, doing my honours research in galaxy evolution using cosmological simulations, simulated box universes. My PhD research has focused on using cosmological simulations to make observationally motivated predictions regarding the characteristics of tidal features, diffuse low surface brightness substructure associated with recent mergers. By comparing my simulated results to upcoming state-of-the-art low surface brighteness surveys, such as the Legacy Survey of Space and Time and Euclid, I hope to better understand the role mergers play in the recent evolution of galaxies.

Supervised by: Prof Sarah Brough
Project Description:ÌýI aim to use LSST-like mock images from cosmological simulations to present a set of predictions regarding tidal features around galaxies that are directly testable by LSST observations. By using a range of cosmological simulations for our analyses, we can test which predictions are affected by the galaxy formation physics models used by each simulation and which are a direct consequence of hierarchical structure formation.
