To this end, each year »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ Business School appoints x5-7 Women in Business Ambassadors (WIBA) to support and uplift female-identifying students across the undergraduate disciplines where females are typically underrepresented:
This is an exciting leadership development opportunity for 2nd or 3rd-year female-identifying undergraduate students who are studying either Risk and Actuarial Studies, Information Systems, Banking and Finance, or Economics and have a passion for the promotion of young female participation and educational development in these areas.
»Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ Business School believes it crucial for the student voice and experience to be incorporated into the work the »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ Business School Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) team carries out throughout the year and the WIBA play a leadership role within our student engagement, representation, and advocacy as part of the »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ Business Schools 2021+ strategy.
The »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ Business School EDI is honoured to introduce you to one of our 2024 Women in Business Ambassadors: Angelica Grace Sutantyo, »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ Bachelor of Actuarial Studies/ Commerce (Finance).
Dream career or industry to work at: I want to work as a Risk Analyst, Actuary, Data analyst, or entre the consulting industry.
»Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ Business School is the best business school in Australia in terms of its achievements in driving education and undergraduate employability forward. In 2024 »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ was awarded AFR Most Employable University' during the Top100 Future Leaders Awards ceremony, for the 5th year in a row, and its students were recognised as being the most sought-after hires by employers. Moreover, I am interested in study Actuarial studies which lies under the »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ Business School, which is also recognised locally and internationally in the financial services industry and in professional associations.
Since my first year at »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ, I have been actively involved in various societies and have held several casual positions, including roles such as a »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ Student Ambassador and an Academic Tutor at the »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ Business School. These experiences have significantly improved both my soft and hard skills, particularly in communication, networking, and public speaking. I am confident that these skills will be invaluable in my future career.
»Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ has equipped me with essential leadership skills through practical experiences, such as my roles as a Student Ambassador and an Academic Tutor, where I developed strong communication, team management, and problem-solving skills. These experiences have prepared me to effectively lead and contribute to both professional environments and community settings.
»Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ Business School is actively enhancing female representation in business through initiatives such as mentorship programs, leadership workshops, and networking events specifically targeted at empowering women. I am eager to contribute to these efforts by participating in and leading workshops that aim to develop skills and build confidence among female students, preparing them for leadership roles in business
My inspiration to champion gender equality and female representation stems from my experiences in Actuarial Studies at »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ, where I have noticed a significant underrepresentation of women. This disparity motivates me to empower more women to pursue this field, aiming to create a more diverse and inclusive environment that encourages female students to embark on and excel in actuarial careers.
I applied to be a Women in Business Ambassador to actively contribute to closing the gender gap in business fields, especially in areas like actuarial studies, where women are noticeably underrepresented. My goal is to inspire and support female-identifying students through mentorship, networking opportunities, and by leading initiatives that highlight the successes and challenges of women in business, fostering an environment where more women are encouraged to pursue and excel in their business careers.
