»Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ x Jinko Solar

»Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ partnered with , a global leader in photovoltaic (PV) technology, to quantify the real-world benefits of Jinko’s bifacial and N-type PV technologies. The collaboration provided customers with reliable performance data, bridging the gap between theoretical simulations and field application insights.

Energy efficient

Field studies revealed that bifacial technology improves energy yield by 3-4%, while N-type panels offer an additional 3% efficiency boost.

Global reach

JinkoSolar's products are used in close to 200 countries and regions worldwide, with approximately 4000 customers.

Real-world performance data

Empirical data gathered through the project enable JinkoSolar’s customers to make better informed product selections.

Challenge

JinkoSolar distributes some of the world's most innovative PV products, including:

  • Bifacial PV modules that generate electricity from both sides, increasing efficiency.

  • N-type monocrystalline panels, known for their high efficiency and improved power output.

While these technologies offer promising advantages, JinkoSolar’s customers sought data to support purchasing decisions. As the industry increasingly demands performance validation based on field application rather than theoretical models, JinkoSolar needed verifiable, real-world data to demonstrate how their systems perform under actual operating conditions.

"Our customers are looking at new technologies, but are not sure how to apply them, how to design with them, and what the exact benefits are. They are seeking real life evidence to verify the theoretical simulation."

Solution

»Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ and Jinko Solar analysed field application data using machine learning techniques. The project focused on two key areas:

1. Performance comparison of bifacial vs. monofacial panels

  • »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ analysed climate statistics and generation data from an existing bifacial solar farm over a 12-month period.

  • The field data was compared to simulated results to validate the accuracy of performance models.

2. System forecasting for N-Type vs. P-Type panels

  • »Ê¹Ú²ÊƱ evaluated system performance of Jinko’s new N-type panels against existing P-type technology.

  • The analysis helped refine predictive models, thereby improving the accuracy of performance forecasting for next-generation PV products.
"We use real climate statistics and generation data from an existing bifacial solar farm to compare against simulated data over a 12-month period. The results from the expected reports tell us the accuracy of the simulation data, which will help validate future modelling. That's what the industry is looking for."

Outcome

The collaboration provided critical insights for Jinko Solar and the broader solar industry:

  • Reliable validation of simulation models: Real-world performance data confirmed the accuracy of existing simulation tools, enhancing industry confidence in predictive models.

  • Enhanced customer decision-making: Buyers gained access to empirical data, enabling them to make more informed product selections.

  • Demonstrated performance gains: Field studies revealed that bifacial technology improves energy yield by 3-4%, while N-type panels offer an additional 3% efficiency boost.

  • Industry advancement through applied research: The study contributed to the development of research methodologies for testing real-world PV applications.
  • Strategic product development: Insights from the project provided Jinko Solar with valuable direction for future PV technology innovations over the next decade.
