
Professor James McAuley
Professor James McAuley is a psychologistin the School of Health Sciences. Hecompleted hisPhD at Brunel University UK in 2002 andtook apost-doctoral position at the University of Sydney in 2004 and then a senior post-doctoral position at the George Institute for Global Health in 2008. Hemoved to NeuRA in 2010 and established the Centre for Pain IMPACT andwas appointed to the department of Exercise Physiology, School of Medical Sciences in 2017.
James’ research combines experimental, clinical and translational methods to develop and test new interventions to manage low back pain. James has published >200articlesand holds over >$10M in research funding. He is regularly invited to give talks at conferences and scientific meetings. James has supervised 18 PhD students and mentored 4 postdocs.
Jamesis the chair of the back pain group of SPHERE MSKand is a member of the Scientific Advisory Group (SAG) for the Australian and New Zealand Musculoskeletal Clinical Trials Network (ANZMUSC).In 2015 James founded the NSW network for pain PhD students/ECRs (SPRiNG).James has supervised 18 PhD students and mentored 4 postdocs.
